Guideline 1.1 Terms of Circulation/Borrowing Materials

Any current NCCC student, employee, or community patron in good standing may check out library materials with valid Chapman Learning Center credentials. The library facility and services are accessible to all students, employees, and community users (Chanute only) free of charge. However, replacing lost or damaged material is not free, and patrons will be held accountable for the condition of materials they borrow from the library (refer to Guideline 1.2B). Patrons must have NCCC library credentials or valid ID connected to an NCCC library account in order to check out items. Patrons may check out up to ten (10) print items at time. Media material checkout is limited to five (5) items.

Library patrons are responsible for all items checked out to their account and are responsible for notifying the library if their credentials or item(s), is lost or stolen.

All library materials are checked out at the circulation desk. Renewals may be requested through Email, in person, or over the phone by calling (620) 432-0369 or (620) 432-0336.

Patrons with library privileges may also place hold on items directly through the online library catalog. Items on hold must be picked up at the library within (2) two business days of notification that the material is available or the hold status will be removed.

1.1A: Loan Limits and Periods

Print Books: Check-out is for 21 days, with a two renewal periods, unless another library patron has placed a hold on the item.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Materials: Check-out is for 21 days, with no renewal. Overdue ILL materials are subject to a $1.00 per day fine. See our ILL page for more details.

Reference Books: Do not circulate. However, exceptions are made for faculty and ILL purposes.

Print Periodicals: With the exception of the current issue, print journals, magazines, and newspapers may be checked out for seven (7) days.

Media Materials: Check-out is for seven (7) days. Up to five (5) media items may be checked out at a time.

Electronic Devices: Laptops, iPads and other electronic devices may be checked out for two (2) hours. College employees get a three (3) day check-out period for electronic devices. Not available to community patrons

Audiovisual Equipment: The check-out period for audiovisual equipment is 24 hours. Up to five (5) pieces of equipment may be checked out at a time. We no longer circulate headphones. Equipment ot available to community patrons. Earbuds may be purchased for $1.00 at the circulation desk.

Bicycles: Check-out is for 24 hours. Due to the limited number of bikes only three renewals are allowed and then a one business day "cooling off" period before patron is allowed another bike.
