Library Guidelines: Interlibrary Loan

Guidline 1.3 Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan (ILL) services are essential to the vitality of our library because they greatly expand the range of resources available to our patrons. Through ILL, the Chapman Learning Center borrows materials from other institutions and checks them out to NCCC patrons.  Patrons can make an ILL material request by completing our ILL Form. To learn more about how to search for ILL materials and process a request, see our ILL tutorial.

1.3A Materials Request: Requested materials typically take 5-7 business days to arrive. Patrons must pick up materials within five (5) business days of their notification of the arrival of their items. The checkout period for ILL materials is 21 days, with no renewal. Overdue ILL materials are subject to a $1.00 per day fine.

1.3B Patrons must have a valid NCCC library credentials. Applications or privilege renewals are available at the circulation desk.

1.3C Failure to return the item(s) will result in a replacement charge and loss of interlibrary loan privileges. In addition, patron may be blocked, as outlined in Guideline 1.2C.

1.3D Up to five (5) requests are allowed per person, per week.

1.3E Any cost associated with the interlibrary loan material is the responsibility of the patron asking for the loan, not CLC or NCCC.

1.3F Photocopying/scanning restriction (TITLE17 U.S. Code) may apply for some library items.

If you would like to suggest a purchase rather than make an ILL request, you should select the New Book Request option on the ILL Form.
